What's my goal?
(goal search)

Its easy to dream. But, if you want to make your dream come true,
you'll have to start by choosing one piece you want to have come true first.

""Anything you want can come true if you cast it in the form of a concrete goal. The only person you have to satisfy is yourself "
- Barbara Sher

i want to be a star!!!

Accoding to Barbara Sher, a goal lives up to 2 principles:

Principle 1: A goal has to be a concrete action or event. In the end, you have something in your hands. Something to show other people.

Principle 2: When you say this is what you want, you're not fooling.
Distinguish real gut dreams from passing fantasies.
This is the acid test of your goal/dream. Try living it in your imagination.
How does it feel? Love it? Great! Keep on going.
Hate it? Change the target.

"But what if I'm not sure I've come up with something I think I love? Suppose I discover that I've made a mistake. And that this is not what I wanted after all.

Then, the solution is simple. You take the piece of paper on which you wrote down your goal, tare it up and create a new goal. Or, modify it to suit your new desires.
No goal is written in blood
."
- Barbara Sher

Barbars's insightful Questions:

1- what's your goal? The concrete thing you want to have in your hands to show other people?

F.Q.: General life goal:
Create action packed mythological adventures.

F.Q.'s five more immediate goals:
1- Print Nemexar chapter 1 and present it at next year's book convention
2- Make more income from my art.
3- Helping younger people with their own dreams.
4- Find a job that doesn't destroy my self worth and creative drive.
5- Get rid of my "shame of what I have become".

2- What's your touchstone? The emotional core behind you goal?
What do you need from this goal?

GOAL --------------------- What I need from this goal (touchstone)
Goal 1( print nemexar):----- Prove to myself that I can do this
Goal 2( income from art):
---Financial security, self-confidence
Goal 3(help the young):
-----Feel social self-worth
Goal 4(find a good job)
------ Financial security, self-confidence
Goal 5(get rid of shame)
---- I want to enjoy life

General emotional core: rebuild my "self-confidence-self worth" and some kind of financial security.

Choosing a target

If you had five lives to live:

Life 1 "comic book artist"
Life 2 art collector
Life 3 father
Life 4 helping the young at heart
Life 5 radical environmental/social activist

So , how do you plan to live all your lives?
F.Q: The father life, I give up on. I can merge it with helping kids and the young at heart.
I could cut down on my art collecting habit. I have gathered enough. It is time to move on and enjoy what I have.
I can be radical in my daily living habits. Besides, my radical side gets on other people's nerves so I'll keep it to myself.

Give up: Being a father
Stop: collecting art
Be radical in my private life.

This allows me to focus on:

Life 1: comic artist
and
Life 2: helping the young at heart

which i can merge together into one life goal:

Life goal: Comic book artist that helps the young at heart

O.K., so.....
you know what you want to do with your life,
you've organised your space to get more done,
you've got your immidate goal.

But now,
you're scared or depressed, or both.

You've hit: hard times.
